Whatever Happened To Jumeirah Private Island?

Featured Replies

I have been sailing from Ao Por Marina past what was to be Jumeirah private island this last year and all the activity and construction I saw the year before seems to have stopped and the island appears abandoned and overgrown.

I met with the marketing rep Anthony a couple of years ago regarding purchasing beachfront plots on the south side and he told me that only a few plots remained. These plots were not cheap at around $1million per rai, so I can only assume a lot of money has been paid into the island. The deep water marina was the reason I was interested in a plot, and the hotel facilities.

What happened? Does anyone know the status of the island? Did Jumeirah pull out?”

You ought to consider yourself fortunate....

Many of those advertised deeded plots....

actually contain fraudulent sig., stamps, verification, authorization.... etc

Many scorned buyers.

TGR left and never returned and it is now going through the courts with no end in sight for decades.

Like most things on this island, they are based on dreams....Paradise island..dream on..specuators and even big money investors have been drawn into these DREAM PROJECTS..

All of a sudden there well planed busines plans..dont work..then.REALITY takes over and PHUKET is left with unfinished projects which has left ugly scars..look around see for yourselves what has happened to PARADISE ISLAND....RIP..PHUKET :annoyed:

yep, its down sized, once another 100,000,000,000 barrels of oil is sold they might start back up,

Pity the people that invested in their own $3-5 million dollar homes there

Errrm.....this is in Phuket, not U.A.E.

Errrm....do you not understand the reference? the clue's in the name.

Unfortunately the story is far too complex to begin to be dissected here.

But it contains the usual suspects in doing business in Phuket - Greed, Incompetence, lies, fraud and stupidity, with more than a hint of corruption.

If only those that had a vested interest in JPI could get past their inflated egos and get round a table to agree on a way forward, "Gullible's island" has a chance.

Their website is still up!

EXCLUSIVITY GUARANTEED

The 80-acre private island offers the inimitable levels of exclusivity and privacy that only a private island can afford, parceled with the experienced and discreet services of Jumeirah; one of the world’s most distinguished hospitality leaders.

The Jumeirah private island is utterly private; one of the very few in the world being developed by a single developer (TGR Group Asia). The Jumeirah development proposes to bring new benchmarks for luxury and exclusivity to the Phuket area to rival those anywhere in the world. Restricted island access and 24-hour security ensures that Jumeirah residential owners, Jumeirah yacht club members and Jumeirah hotel guests retain complete privacy.

SECURE OWNERSHIP

All legal documentation has been prepared by Mayer Brown Johnson Stokes and Masters, one of Asia's most respected international law firms working closely with Baker Tilley, a major international accounting practice, to ensure that purchasers have total security of ownership.

Nice words, eh.
