Hedgemeister Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I have been sailing from Ao Por Marina past what was to be Jumeirah private island this last year and all the activity and construction I saw the year before seems to have stopped and the island appears abandoned and overgrown. I met with the marketing rep Anthony a couple of years ago regarding purchasing beachfront plots on the south side and he told me that only a few plots remained. These plots were not cheap at around $1million per rai, so I can only assume a lot of money has been paid into the island. The deep water marina was the reason I was interested in a plot, and the hotel facilities. What happened? Does anyone know the status of the island? Did Jumeirah pull out?”
mkawish Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 You ought to consider yourself fortunate.... Many of those advertised deeded plots.... actually contain fraudulent sig., stamps, verification, authorization.... etc
katasyd Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Many scorned buyers. TGR left and never returned and it is now going through the courts with no end in sight for decades.

DLock Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Unfortunately the story is far too complex to begin to be dissected here. But it contains the usual suspects in doing business in Phuket - Greed, Incompetence, lies, fraud and stupidity, with more than a hint of corruption. If only those that had a vested interest in JPI could get past their inflated egos and get round a table to agree on a way forward, "Gullible's island" has a chance.
