The Price Of A Life In Udon?

The war office's sister recently gave birth in the local government hospital in Udon. Both mother and child were checked and cleared by the doctor to go home the following day. During the night a part time hospital worker took the child and gave him a shower and put him back in his crib? Later the mother noticed that the child had turned a green colour and summoned help. Long story shortened the child died two days later, the doctor complained to the hospitals head of administration who admitted the hospital was culpable and that compensation would be paid.... It was yesterday. 10,000 Baht! Nothing I can say or do will shift the families view that it was the Buddha's will! Sad state of affairs!

You must be digging at some conclusive point, yes? Which is.......?? These unfortunate tragedies happen. And they happen everywhere. Beyond politics and beyond spirituality. Condolences to the family.

Yes this was a tragedy. Yes tragedies happen. Yes they are beyond politics and spirituality. I dont dispute these facts. The point is the hospital uses part time school students to do the work of trained nurses and that is inexcusable and will only increase the chances of such tragedies happening again. And to think the hospital considered 10,000 Baht a sufficient amount of compensation. The family wanted nothing the hospital had no regard for the childs death they just bought the mothers silence.

In a government hospital the staff don't bathe, especially shower, newborns. It's left to the mothers. You fail to mention the cause of death other than to indicate the child died through having a shower. The green colour is an indication that the baby had been dead sometime. The green colour is the first stage of putrefaction, a natural process.

....couldn't even rule out cot-death, as well. It's perfectly possible that any hospital personnel or procedures followed through with {or not} had nothing to with the infant's death.
