Good Optometrist For Contact Lens

Featured Replies

Hi, do you guys know any good optometrist in Bangkok? I already have a prescription, so I just need to get the contact lens.

Also, where can I get some nice fashionable "copy" designer rimless glasses?

Thanks!

they are so many to chose from, you just have to walk round town and pick the one you want

Try Modern Optical under the Asok BTS station about soi 14, he speaks excellent English and knows what he's doing. I wouldn't just go to any place through past experience.

Washington Optical, ground floor of Amarin Plaza, near the SE corner of Ploenchit and Ratchadamri Roads (Ratchprasong Intersection). English spoken. Closed Mondays, but open Saturdays.

When I went out to get a set of contact lenses, I went to an optometrist in Bangkok. They did the eye exam and my eyesight is different in each eye. They told me, they could only get the contact lenses, but they could not be different and had to be the same. I asked the man where I could find what I was looking at. He did not know, or gave the typical Thai responce. I told him, in the U.S. and in Europe optometrists will provide you will two seperate lenses if you need them.

It is totally normal and most common for each eye to have a different prescription. I know the brand that I use comes with two per box. So you have to get at least 2 of each prescription which isn't a big deal.

That being said, I have been using the Optiflex contacts which are made in the US. The last time I bought a couple boxes (200b per box of two), I noticed that the inside packaging was different as soon as I opened it, although the outer cardboard package was still exactly the same as before. The plastic cases inside used to have a rounded top edge and now they are totally square at the top, which of course isn't the problem. But the contacts are totally flimsy now. Every time I try to drip a few drops of solution on them to rinse them, they turn inside out which is really annoying. The often flip down inside out when I try to stick them in my eye as well. Its too bad because I couldn't stand all the other brands available a few years ago until I found this brand. Now, they are crap too! Can anybody else recommend other good brands for farang eyes?
