My wife and I went there this morning to renew my retirement extension (based on pension) and to do my 90 day report, they were smiley, helpful and efficient as always.

In through the main door and I see a window on the right, someone was getting served. After a couple of minutes I told the lady that I wanted to renew my visa and do a 90Day report...my wife had a little chat with her.

I was given No3 (No1 and No2 were being dealt with) and I sat down. My wife sorted the 90 Day report.

When it was my turn the lady asked to see…

Copy of House Book duly counter signed

Copy of House Book owners ID Card counter signed

The above is to confirm that I live in the Nonthaburi Area as many from other areas have in the recent past gone to renew there..and no other reason. I’m not surprised as they are so well organised.

Letter from the British Embassy confirming my pension....she converted the amount to Thai Baht, didn't ask the rate.

Completed Application form with ONE photo attached to the rear…they only need one photo they said..

Passport

Copy of Main Passport Page

Copy of ‘O’ Visa Page

Copy of Last Renewal Stamp

Copy of Departure Card

1900Baht

Then all this was passed to another person, who then asked to see my bank book and copied all the pages…he never looked at the copies, but maybe the person doing the copying did. He also said when I renew my passport (just less than one year left) to come and get my stamp transferred. My permitted to stay stamp is only until the end of my passport but will be extended to my normal date when I take my new passport to him.

All I can say is that they must have a big room to store all this paperwork. They did put an additional stamp on my 90Day Report Slip...the date my visa extension expires. I think it will save them searching my passport for that info next time.

Over in less than fifteen minutes from getting out of my car……..On leaving it was raining, they couldn't find an umbrella to lend, so they gave me some cardboard to fend the rain off whilst walking to the car. I still got wet as it was pi**ing down!

I noticed that you did not object to providing your bank book for examination, did you ask why, and was this any different than you have done in the past? I was under the impression that the Embassy Cert Letter is all that is mandated to qualify for the Retirement Extension.

Last year they asked to see my bank book...I didn't have it with me...but did have my 3 Months of UK Bank Statements (the ones that I sent to the British Embassy) and showed them those. I was asked to bring my bank book next year. Have a look at Nonthaburi Immigration posts about one year ago and you will see I provided that info then.

They told my wife that they want to know where my money in Thailand comes from...(I jokingly told them that I know where it goes!) just because I have a pension does not mean that I bring it here...............ok by me....My view is keep pleasant and polite....they always remember my wife and I and they all chat to her most of the time that the paperwork is being perused, even the officers dealing with other people...It is very low key there but very efficient

This must be at least our fifth visit there and they are always really pleasant and we are always in and out in a few minutes.

Hope this helps to smooth others applications and to ensure that they only have to make one trip there. I have read of others not having all the info that they want and have had to go home and get it.

Thanks for the information and the advice. I am going to Nakhon Ratchasima Immigration next month. First time for Retirement extension, so appreciate the detail of your own experience.
