Police yesterday recommended the prosecution of 114 yellow shirts in connection with the seizures of Government House and Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in 2008.

Chamlong Srimuang, a vocal leader of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), was among the list of suspects in the 40,000-page police report submitted to the Attorney-General's Office.

Of the 114 named, 80 have already reported to acknowledge the charges.

Public prosecutors have set June 9 to decide whether to indict all, some or none of the suspects, but considering the lengthy police report and the suspects' petition rebutting the police findings, the deadline might be extended up to 60 days.

The Criminal Court yesterday found five PAD guards guilty of attempted hijacking of a passenger bus and sentenced them to three years' jail each before reducing the term to two years for confessing.

The five are Teeradet Wanna, Chaiwat Thapthong, Thani Art-sawang, Somchai Thongkiart and Pongpan Kachan.

Somchai Hongsa, a sixth defendant, died on April 2 before the verdict and his name was removed from the case.
