June 18th was earmarked for a Legends of Liverpool v Legends of Thailand football match in Phuket.

The website for tickets mentioned on the Phuket Gazette's announcement has nothing and there doesn't seem to be any publicity on the internet about either this game or the proposed game in Bangkok.

I am not a Liverpool fan but would go to this if it is actually taking place.

Does anyone have any information?

Thailand has football legends?blink.gif Who?

Probably a bunch of generals/politicians will play for Thailand as a 'i played against Liverpool' story for the girls down the Karaoke bar.

Show me a Thailand football legend and i'll show you a Italian war herowhistling.gif

Have to 'name-drop' here, and say that I know Alan Kennedy.

Will try to give him a call and see what's happening. With all his media, local radio, and pundit work though, he's a bugger to get ahold of.

I'll post anything I find out.

There's the link to the Gazette article.

Katasyd, you are right as far as us farangs are concerned but I'm sure there are some well known football names amongst the Thais.

Barka, it seems that there was at least a plan to play in Phuket

Lannatyne, you name dropper, let us know if you get in touch with Alan Kennedy.

Hope that helps.

Maybe it helps to some, but not to me.

Where is Thanyapura/PIA?

I also know his brother, Keith Kennedy. But, he'd be starring for the "Legends of Bury" team! Likely to be slightly less well-known than the 'Legends of Thailand'!

can you just turn up on the day and pay or do you need to purchase tickets beforehand

The above is supposed to be the link for tickets but maybe 91.5 will find out some more as this website has no information at all.

Lannatyne, do you also know Kevin Kennedy, who played Curly Watts in Coronation Street, and members of the famous American political family?

Sorry, madmitch, don't know Kevin, and that dodgy mob in the States.

I'm a man of culture and the arts, so the only other Kennedy I know is the one who supports Aston Villa and plays the violin quite well : Nigel.

I was trying to be subtle about it, but some people don't seem to get that. What is the point of posting an explanation like the one given, which does not explain at all? Just add some practical information like location, phonenumber, website, or anything that might help.

It's definitely happening and tickets can be bought from HomePro outlets across the island or at Thanyapura itself. It's going to be amazing. I'm a huge Liverpool fan and cannot wait. Article in this Friday's Phuket News about it.

Had the pleasure of meeting Alan Kennedy and he is a true gent and am very excited about meeting the likes of Phil Neal, Jan Molby, Bruce Grobbelar, Phil Thompson, Steve McManaman and Robbie 'God' Fowler.

We're lucky to have the likes of these guys coming to Phuket and its going to raise money for the Youth Football Home in Thalang.
