Collegue Farangs,

I am planning to build our house in Surin, near Buriram. I have the land already, and it has been filled up. I am interested if you know a building team, with a skilled architect, or constructor. I plann to start building nexth year.

Would be nice, to know if there are some candidates in this area. Looking forward for your suggestion(s).

Best regards, and many thanks in advance

If you can speak Thai or Khmer well, I will find the number of my builder for you.

There are some examples of his work on my Gallery page. He is in that area.

Actually, save you looking, here is a pic of my house in Surin.house.jpg

Hi Carl,

Thanks for the reply. For me the situation has changed. I am not planning to build there anymore. I have broken up with my Thai girlfriend. I have some friends in Buriram, they could advise you about a team of workers. First of all, if you have to fill up the land, wait at least 2 rainingseasons to start to build, otherwise you house will have problems. Or in the event, if you have the budget, consider to have concrete poles driven in the ground at least -much- deeper then the original ground level.

Builders, be aware, there are certain specialised builders that double the quote because of the Farang factor. When you start to build take full controll, oversee everything. Let the builder make a list of what he needs (bill of material) and order it yourself, en pay it yourself. Oversee the building, I mean the workers, and pay a % at the start. The rest when you are satisfied. See that you get a good building plan with all details, and you will save a lot of money.

Good luck my friend!!
