Air Asia Is A Joke !

You went to a travel agent to book an Air Asia flight?????? Well we know who's the joke!

Yeah, you gotta wonder why he didn't just book it online himself?

And then he expects the travel agent to work for free when they don't get any kickbacks like commissions and free flights from Air Asia like they do with other airlines and wonders why the travel agent gave him a better price for an airline that does?

You can pay at 7/11 for Air Asia tickets.

From the website

Over the counter payments

Thailand Baht • 7-Eleven outlets

• K-Bank

• Siam Commercial Bank

But then he wouldn't have been able to have a rant if he'd have read the website properly.

Huh. Whats wrong with you? You can still book Krabi to BKK next week for 2253 baht (or cheaper) including 20kg luggage and credit card fee. I think your travel agent is trying to rip the shit out of you.

NEVER GO TO A TRAVEL AGENT TO BOOK AIR ASIA - BOOK ONLINE ON THEIR WEBSITE ALWAYS. END OF STORY.

The OP is now aware he can pay at 7/11, he does not possess a CC.

Okay, now he just needs to ensure that he is not queued up behind some zit-faced teens trying to top up their SIM cards. ;)

as said earlier, plan ahead.

I have at least 3 return tickets booked all the time, bought on promotion days, rarely over 1k return for two pax.

If I need to fly out tomorrow I go to Udon airport and book a Thai flight at the counter, cheaper than internet and Air Asia.

So your cry for "Air Asia is a Joke" is plain wrong, you should learn to use your brain :whistling:

It makes me laugh everytime someone gets on here and is outraged about a cost differances of this and that...do they think all businesses should be forced to charge the same amount for each and every product?

I cant imagine any economy surviving if it were the case.

On the subject of AA, my last flight from Coolangatta to Bangkok came to under 6000 baht all up, so who could complain about that?

Thai airlines might get a little help from the government or pay less tax or charges to use airports, so that could explain why they are cheaper on domestic routes. You can't expect AA to be the cheapest on EVERY route..Try comparing the cost of any international flight on Thai airlines compared to that of AA and you will soon find out who the joke is :whistling:

The OP moaning about such a small differance on a domestic flight and then labelling the whole company is a bit rich.

Maybe you need to get a life old son..anyways if you were that worried about price why didnt you just get on a bus?

Running down Air Asia for his own stupidity is a bit rich.

Yeah, man, I am so bloody stupid that I believe in Air Asia´s BS: Now everyone can fly....

So, clever guy, mr. Superior, how long time do you think Air Asia will last with their last minute doubling their prices, when a customer at the airport just can walk 20 meter to the next counter and buy a ticket to BKK that is 50% less than the price offered at Air Asia´s counter for a last minute flight?

I did that recently in Phuket and was followed by at least 5 people waiting in line after me! You would probably have brought your laptop and used the wireless connection to visit Air Asia´s website and booket it for 2,xxx THB even they at the counter refused to sell at less than 4,390, right?

You would probably find that you will indeed get good prices on tickets if you book well in advance. I think Air Asia will last quite sometime, as they are still pretty cheap if you are planning in advance.

If you make bookings via on-line, agents or AirAsia offices, you pay different fares...i think every travellers know that...

Judging by this thread, that is clearly not the case (probably) :whistling:

Abou 4 months ago went on Air Asia site to check out prices for the Uk. Wanting to fly out of BKK on the 1st of june. Without going into the extra charges for the normal inflight luxuries. They were far more expensive than the prices I got from a little, local Travel agent (Bang-Na)

Dead right on all counts. Aa payment can be a bitch but always had a great run and some "last minute" bargains

that killed the opposition. Just takes planning - yes even last minute - and thoroughness. I f he had he would have saved

1200 baht but not provided us all with an insight and entertainment.

Plus if you follow his thread he doesn't like Bangkok - his right and flies everywhere all the time. a seasoned traveller?

Maybe he never lands!

Its always the same - some people need soemthing to whinge about. Ours is him.

I fly AirAsia frequently, and more often than not I am quite happy with their service. When something doesn't go as I'd planned, I always remember that AirAsia is a budget carrier, and you get what you pay for.

If you think it's too expensive, take the train or the bus. If you expect better service, fly a major carrier.

Simple, really.

Wow...I didn´t know that....will remember next time...then I might get a better price. Thanks for the info, very helpful :-)

However you cannot book your ticket online with Air Asia.

You have to have a Credit or Debit Card to take advantage of their "low fares" You can use their telephone booking service at a cost!

I would have thought it blindingly obvious that air asia are usually the cheapest option to fly around Thailand + they have some very good deals "abroad" IF you can plan far enough ahead .. to try and book a "no frills" air ticket from a travel agent is just plain stupid be it AA or say,Nok Air.

I live near Khon Kaen and this week had to book 2 return tickets to Phuket for late October..Only KK carrier is Thai Airways cost to Bangkok (20kg bag allowance) 9,200Bht ..then the extra cost of BK to Phuket.

From Udon Thani direct to Phuket with A Asia ,paying for X2 25kg bags and pr booked seat 8,400Bht.

There are 3 ways to pay ,providing you click on the "right" box ! not obvious and I spent a frustrating 10mins trying to work out why I was being directed to Siam Bank DD ..Doh !

Yes, TG flights are available that are often less expensive than those listed on the TG website. Read the conditions on those cheaper flights specifically;

1. The amount of reward miles offered.

2. The cost of changing the ticket. Often the lower cost tickets are non transferable, non refundable and subject to expensive change fees.

3, The seat position. PAX on the cheap tickets are usually relegated to the worst seats on the plane.

4. Assistance in the event of a flight delay or cancellation. The cheapest tickets are given the lowest assistance priority. Wait until you have a problem. The TG agent will say to contact the travel agent since the ticket was sold on a consolidator or bucket shop arrangement.

Smart travelers read the ticket conditions.

I have to say to those people who are adamant that you should book online and not use a travel agent ; I checked online for a one way from Ubon to BKK, It was about 2000B, I then went to my local travel agent who booked it for me, the cost was 1800B. I said to him, but that is cheaper than online, he just shrugged. So perhaps sometimes booking via a travel agent is wise ?

air Asia has some great deals, and they are often the cheapest option.

That doesn't mean they are ALWAYS the best deal. One should always check a few airlines before deciding obviously.

Oh and you can also buy tickets from their offices at Tesco Lotus, might be slightly more expensive though.

Oh and, as someone pointed out above, tickets are sold fast sometimes. It could be that, between the time you checked online and the time you went to the travel agent, the cheaper tickets for the evening flight had gone. So I don't think we should jump to the conclusion that the travel agent tried to rip you off.

Thx for all the useful tips, pro and cons....I hereby retract my harsh words about AA. From now on when travelling "last minute" I know what to do....and will try planning ahead as far as I can :-)

^ Excellent olsen! It is a serious lottery out there regarding air travel booking; online versus travel agent, etc., and keeping an open mind means you should should benefit rather than lose in the long run.

One thing I think is significant are that the changes are so dynamic these days that even stating your own or other people's experiences can so quickly be invalidated. For example, a few years back, a common complaint was AirAsia's 'aging' fleet of 737's but within a 3-4 month period, these were almost all replaced by new Airbuses. Service didn't change markedly but sitting in a brand-new plane became a unstated 'bonus' overnight.

Another was the aging cabin and poor in-flight entertainment on KLM's legacy 747's. Once again, over a slightly longer period, they retro-fitted these aircraft and added 'Premium' seating in Economy making for a much more 'up market' travel experience.

On-Line fare promotions are On-Line Purchase only !

Same with every other airline or services that say on-line special fare or offer only !

If you try to purchase over the phone, thru a travel agent, or at the ticket counter, you will pay whatever regular fare or promotion is available off line.

Plan ahead, get a credit card and book on-line or pay the higher fare.

Many times Travel agents will have special deals availabel only to them thru many bigger non budget airlines.

I have paid last minute special prices loweer than the budget airlines prices at the check in ticket counter even with Thai Airways on rare occassions. but you can not depend on that happening.

Who is the joke? You??

Tell me then how I can book a flight with Air Asia online with no credit card?

hahah <deleted> you dont have any creditcard? you been living in a cave for the last 50 years :lol:hahaha

Maybe this poster understands a few things about credit cards.

"Most people start off with that intention but due to unforeseen circumstances, it eventually lead to delay of a month's payments and this is how the cycle begins. Unfortunately it is human nature that should we have excess money, there will be something we need. It has been proven scientifically that paying with a credit card generate less hesitation as compared to paying with cash. It is the same principle as to why casinos use chips rather than cash. The best thing to do is to use a Debit Card. Then you are actually spending only money and not your future happiness."

Don't you this Air Asia are in cohorts with the Banks.. use CC to sell your tickets and we will give you the money to buy/lease your aircraft...

Think please...

If you think the travel agent tried to cheat me, then why did she sell me a ticket from BKK to Copenhagen at 36,000 THB when it was officially priced on Thai Airways´ website at 47,000 THB?

Yes, we know who´s the joke :-D

if you have a debit card with visa logo on it, that works the same as a credit card. If you dont have, change and get one
