English man found dead inside his Central Pattaya apartment.

Police Colonel Somnook, the Chief of Pattaya Police attended room number 518/158 on the second floor of the Niran Grand Condo in Soi Arunothai to investigate the death of Mr. Joseph Thomas Black aged 60 from England. The usual close inspection of the body and room were made for signs of a suspicious death and nothing untoward was found. An appointment card issued by the Pattaya International Hospital was found, however no medication was found inside the room. Police are now in contact with the hospital regarding the man’s medical condition prior to his death and are also awaiting the results of a post mortem examination before they close the case and permit the body to be sent back to England for burial.

RIP indeed.

Whilst I don't mind the odd post about some of the more bizzare events which happen in Patters from PCN, am I the only one who finds these Brit/Aussie/German/Swede found dead posts a little repetitive as well as depressingly frequent......

I debated posting it - it doesnt fit my usual criteria, but I thought perhaps the lad deserved a lil attention. :o

Repetitive yes. Depressing no. People die all the time but when a falang in Pattaya croaks its always on the news. Think how many people die in your average home town every day but thats never on the news.

He was 60, probably having the time of his life and probably died with a smile on his face.

Rest in peace.

BTW. Transporting the body back to Blighty and being buried there will likely mean he is deemed domiciled there and his estate subject to Inheritance Tax. 40% on anything over £263,000. A point to ponder for some.

This raises an interesting point about foreign deaths and why I report on them.

Yes I find them a bit repetitive but I soon discovered they serve a purpose, more for the internet news than the TV News. One day I reported on a Brit Death and placed it on my website. The pictures were fairly graphic and pixelated because of this. The next day I received an email from the grieving family who thanked me for reporting on the death because they were not sure where the guy was and were worried about him. The death gave them a form of closure on their worry.

The next part of the email disturbed me. They wanted still's of his decomposed body un-pixelated which, in their own words, would complete their grieving process. At first I thought this was a wind-up and required proof of their relationship with the man. They sent me scanned copies of their passports which showed they had the same surname and they sent me a marraige certificate stating the dead mans name. That was enough for me, so I sent the pictures with a strong warning that they were extremely graphic. A few hours later I received another email thanking me with a picture of the family including the dead man, attached. Amazing!!!!!

So that is one of the reasons why I continue to report on them because I think I am providing a service to the families of the dead person in some of the cases.

Maybe some people think differently but you must remember that many of us are thousands of miles away from our families and we may have lost contact with them for some reason or another.

What do you think?

HM - now that is bizzare. I always get the feeling alot of these lads are quite alone and by drawing some attention to them makes it not so lonely. Course not alot of good it does them, but if there is a chance of loved ones benefiting in some way perhaps this is a noble cause for PCN.
