National Police Day In Pattaya

Featured Replies

Pattaya’s Police Divisions celebrate National Police Day.

The 13th October is National Police Day here in Thailand. Here in Pattaya the various Police Departments held special ceremonies to celebrate this auspicious day. We begin at the Pattaya Immigration Department where Police Colonel Itipon, the Commander of Pattaya Immigration held this small ceremony in the car park. It begun with the group of officers paying homage to Buddha for good luck and prosperity for the future. This was followed by three officers receiving promotions to the rank of Senior Sergeant Major. Receiving a promotion on Police Day is considered one of the highest honors bestowed on a police officer.

We then made our way to Pattaya Police Station where a similar ceremony was conducted by Police Colonel Somnook, the Chief of Pattaya Police. This parade was attended by Police and Police Volunteers along with a number of ex-pats who wanted to witness this annual ceremony. Once again a group of officers received promotions and a number of local business operators, some foreign, were given certificates of appreciation for help and donations offered by them to the Police over the last year.

We conclude our coverage of Police Day with a more light-hearted event which took place at the Banglamung School sports ground. This annual event is a highly competitive football match between Pattaya’s Tourist Police Division led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Wootishart and the Narcotics Police from Bangkok. Both sides take the game very seriously as demonstrated by some intense tackling and support from the crowds.
