New To Udon - Which Border For Visa Run

Featured Replies

Hi

I will be in Udon when my Non O visa entry expires and will need to border bounce to activate another 90 days.

Can anyone tell me which is the quickest border to get to, how long it will take and any companies that do the visa runs?

I will have my son with me, so I may have to take him with me depending on how long it takes to get to the border.

Many thanks for your help.

I assume you mean Udon Thani - long trip to border biggrin.gif - about 40-50 minutes to Friendship Bridge in Nong Khai, Laos border - unfortunately 1600 baht or 35 $ to go into Laos, but you can do it in a morning jap.gif do not know any Visa companies though

Yes I mean Udon Thani. Thats good only 50 mins. Does this

charge of 35 US apply to every person leaving and re-entering,

as my son has a thai passport and I wanted to take him with me?

Thanks

Thai nationals are a nominal small charge - might be 70 -100 baht jap.gif

You may have a problem taking a child, they usually cross on the mothers ID no mother and he will have to use his passport, but it isn't dear just a pain filling out more forms. Jim
Can anyone tell me which is the quickest border to get to

I'm looking at a map, and I'm wondering if this is a trick question.

Let's see, Udon to closest Cambodian crossing - I think you can cross south of Surin, which would be apprx 400 kilometers.

Udon to closest Burmese border crossing - Mae Sai, I'm guessing 900 kilometers.

Udon to closest Malaysian border crossing - geez must be over 2000 kilometers.

OR . . .

you can cruise up to Nong Kai, about 60 kilometers.
