Arriving By Bus From Krabi - Best Way To Airport?

Featured Replies

Hi,

37-year-old American here, live in Krabi Town with Thai wife and our son. After arriving at which ever bus station the bus from Krabi would arrive at, what is the cheapest way to get to the airport? I searched the forum and read some posts about a bus station's service to the airport, and it even had a schedule, but I don't know what bus station we arrive at for sure, and it wasn't 100% clear if it was the right one for us coming from Krabi.

Once we are at the bus station there is no rush, as our flight is not until the following day. We're staying at the Phuket Airport Hotel, supposed to be a minute away so if we can get to the airport I think we're all set!

Since it's happened to me more than I'd like, I just hate stepping off of a bus into a new location not even armed with what my options are before the taxi vultures swoop down to feed!

Thanks,

Scott

Since you're staying in the North part of the island, considering getting of the bus at the Northern end, in stead of going all the way South. Ask the driver to drop you of at the road leading to the airport, and you'll save youirself 45 minutes bussing plus the same trip North again. Get a taxi or tuktuk from there.

I was about to say the same. Cross the road and go just past the corner towards the airport and you'll be able to flag down plenty of empty taxis/limos going back to the airport. Don't know what they'll charge but they should be happy far a few extra baht as they'd make nothing otherwise.

Trouble with that plan is the taxis drivers know you are stuck without transport and demand a high price for a few km trip. If you have the time then just stick with your plan.

But LIK, you have to admiit it does seem a little crazy to ride past the airport 45 minutes to an hour (depending on traffic), then do the same 45 minutes to an hour back.........

OP, there is a poster here Simon43 who owns the Airport Hotel. You'll also find him on the Krabi Forum as his Krabi Hostel is a sponsor. Maybe Simon can arrange a pickup for you from where the bus lets you off at the airport road, for a nominal fee. Were I you I'd shoot him a PM and inquire.

Yes, it does seem a little crazy, but I suspect the OP is aware of the eccentricities of Phuket and that's why he is asking on this forum.

Good suggestion to contact simon. Click here simon43 and send him a PM. Maybe you can arrange a pick-up at the road end.

All sounds good advice but why can you not just hang around the airport turn off and flag down the regular airport bus? Will the bus stop when asked or just drive past? I wonder as everyone knows how much of a 'hold' the jealous tuk tuk & taxi lads have on the market.. I'm doing this same trip in a week or so, so it will be good to have a def answer,

The airport bus has designated stops. See http://www.airportbusphuket.com/routes.html

To be on the safe side best get off the Krabi Bus at Pranang Srang Temple (web site gives google map if click on that stop)

Best of luck.

Thanks LIK, thats prob what I'll do but if I find I have time to kill I may even just carry on to the bus station for the hell of it, in the 00's of times I've driven this route I rarely get the chance to look around. Cheers.
