Ipad And Jailbreaking

Featured Replies

I consider myself tech-savvy, etc etc... But today I found out something new about jailbreaking the ipad.A friend who has one of those mobile shops told me that he can not only jailbreak the ipad (we all know that) BUT, here is the kicker... he can install software to use it as a cell phone.I know you can do that with the android tablets out there. Mine has the sim card, so it does data and uses cell towers, etc. But this new program to use it as a mobile really blew my mind.. May do it..

There's a App in the US Apple App store that I've been using on my iPod touch 4th gen that I can call with. I think they make an iPad version too now. It's called textfree. It gives me a US number, so friends from the US can call me free and I can call there for 2¢ a minute, text for free. But I guess it's only good if you're from the US. I haven't looked around the Thailand iTunes app store yet for anything similar... Let me know if you find out more about the iPad hack as I'm getting one.

Here it is . Not bad for 20 bucks. Much cheaper than the 1500 baht my "friend" wanted to charge me, but then again, it is a business.

Not for the Ipad 2 nor ios 5, yet.

I never use the Thai app store. Too restrictive. But I have both a USA and a UK account.

Thanks! I'll have to check it out when I get the iPad.
