Grace Period For Renewing O-A Retirement Visa

Featured Replies

I have to leave the country before my annual extension date comes up and return after that date. Is there a grace period before my departure during which I can get the extension ? If so, how long is it: week, ten days, two weeks, etc. ? This applies to the Chiang Mai office only.

Thanks

CM people will answer, but in almost ALL offices, 30 days early is OK. Many offices will allow more than 30 if you can prove a need (show air ticket) but it sounds like you are talking 10 days or less. That will NOT be a problem! In fact, it is very foolish to wait until the last days. Maybe you are worried about losing days? The new extension will start after the current permission to stay no matter how early you are granted the new extension.

Of course you are not renewing your O-A visa at all. You are getting an annual extension based on retirement.

As above. No problem 30 days early, earlier possible if you have a good reason.

But be very sure to get a new re-entry permit after you get that new extension of stay stamp in your passport.

Yes! That is essential or no point in even getting your extension in the first place.
