Khon Kaen Students/Teachers In Bus Crash

Featured Replies

Yesterday there was an accident not far from our home in Tha Mai, Chanthaburi province.

It has been reported on Thai television news last night, saw footage of the accident scene and the clean-up, but I cannot find anything in English media.

Accident involved a busload of schoolchildren and teachers reported to be from (excuse spelling ) Kru Kad school in Khon Kaen; they had stayed the previous night on the coast at Chao Lao beach and were heading up the coast to Bangkok when the accident happened, just 18km into the journey, on road 3152 which runs from TM to Sukhumvit 3.

According to tv news the bus side-swiped a loaded truck heading in other direction, the bus went off the road and ended up lying on its side.

TV news reported one death, a 15 year old female student, and other students being treated at three hospitals in the region.

Very 'close to home', we may have been swimming with these kids the day before, or perhaps they were from another school, it's a popular spot for school visits - so many calls of 'hello' and 'where are you from?'

Thairath online newspaper has a report and photos here http://www.thairath.co.th/content/region/191986 - I can't read Thai and the Google translate makes little sense.

Perhaps someone could offer a proper translation?

Not out to blame anyone, not another 'bad Thai drivers' thread please.
