Thank you Bambi.

I am sure yours is a better suggestion. I just made that one up (but I think it is comprehensible, at least?).

I've been looking for some warm jackets in Central and Emporium. They all called them เสื้อหนาว seua[F] naao[R] "jacket (for cold weather)".

seua warm เสื้อวอร์ม

Thanks Bambi for that - I need some of them too.

Trainers/running shoes and jacket.

เสื้อหนาว seua[F] naao[R] is a generic term meaning “clothing for the cold weather”. It can be anything that fits the bill.

"jacket (for cold weather)" is really a borrowed term from English – so whatever a jacket is in original English that is what “jacket” is in Thai. This has become a very well known word in the Thai vocab now. Sometimes it is called เสื้อ-jacket. This likely will give you the general cold-weather jacket.

If I were you, I would keep it simple by saying:

รองเท้าวิ่ง rawng[M] thaao[H] wing [pronounced with a mediam high pitch, not in a flat tone as in English word “wing”] for running shoes.

เสื้อ-jacket or seua[F] jacket for jacket.

These 2 terms are very common and easily understood.

As for Trainers/running shoes, I’d say a lot of Thais don’t distinguish the difference between Training shoes, running shoes, walking shoes or general athletic shoes. If you want to ask for specific training shoes, plse re-post and someone can help you.

For Thai people.

Running shoes = "Rong-Tao-Sum-Rup-Wing" รองเท้าสำหรับวิ่ง or jogging shoes

Training shoes= I can't reply you because we not use it like a incomplete sentence. You should to say "Tennis training shoes or football trainning shoes".

If You said"Taining shoes" = Rong-Tao -Sum-Rup-Sorn" รองเท้าสำหรับสอน

Noone understand you that what you want?

You can't traslate an English to Thai word without conjunction =บุรพบท

If you said "rong-toa-wing" รองเท้าวิ่ง

Jecket: depends on what you use it for,

If you use it for cold climate protection we call "Seau-Gun-Nhow"เสื้อกันหนาว

(Normally, we not use it for this)

If you use it for sports we call "seau -warm "เสื้อวอร์ม

If you use it for your group such as Motorcycle we call "jeck ket"

เสื้อแจคเกตสำหรับวินมอเตอร์ไซด์

If you use it for dressing we call "jack -ket" means you are dress and your long sleeves shirt cover your dress.

But when we said "Jecket" we understand..Long sleeves shirt for sprots or racing car.
