There are about 2,700 species of mosquito.

An average female mosquito drinks about 5-millionths of a litre per serving.

A mosquito can fly an estimated 1 to 1.5 miles per hour.

A mosquito can smell you, or a cow or another host between 20 to 35 meters away.

Not a lot of people know that!

I can't find the reference, but the first novel to be composed on the typewriter was acctually Life on the Mississippi. Mark Twain himself was the source of the inaccurate info - 30 years after the fact he forgot which one he had typed and which one he had handwritten!

It is NOT impossible to lick your elbow. For most people, yes, but not for all. Jay Leno had a segment on a few weeks ago dispelling this common piece of "trivia" -- he had on a group of about a dozen people, all of whom could do it. They smeared peanut butter on the elbows of each and had a contest to see who could lick it off fastest. A woman won.
