When working in refugee camps, I was told most people had intestinal parasites. Ive been living in Issan for 15 years and we are very close to the soil, (in the gardens, ricefields, orchards). Also, the hygene in restaurants and the market places isnt what I call good.

We give our dogs medications for parasites, it would seem logical to do the same for humans.

Any thoughts?

It can never hurt to have an annual health check, especially when over 40 it is recommended. During a health check, the check things like hearth, lungs, blood pressure, diabetes and also blood and stool samples to check for parasites.

Cost depeds on the checks they do and the hospital, most government hospitals I know do it for around 1,000 baht.

A lot of people routinely self-treat with abendazole every 6 months or so. Zentel and other brand names, widely available without prescription. 400mg one time does.

P.S. what years were you in the camps? And any relation to your nic (e.g. were you in tatum?)
