Gps Navigation Android

Featured Replies

Hi

I just got an android phone im new to this.

I want a navigation for my phone that tells me turn left turn right etc.

What should i do? Maps, apps etc?

Thanks

Use Navit for free SatNav that doesnt require any data connection. Download from the Market.

If you have a mobile data package then you can use Google Maps Navigation/Latitude.

Of if you like spending money you could buy a pay SatNav programme.

I use Google Maps with the Navigation "hack", it works fine for me. FWIW, you can now download Google Map "squares" to your phone, but the limit seems like ten (10). There may be a work-around?

Plenty of other options in that thread.

I'd recommend NDrive but it's not free, you do get a 7 day free trial though. I've tried a few and I find this to be the best.

As other said, unfortunately, turn-by-turn navigation is not yet available in Google Maps for Thailand. Considering it also needs a relatively constant data connexion, it's not really a solution here.

You'll have to go for 3rd party paid apps. There are quite a few, it seems the good ones have been mentioned:

Sygic (7days trial): https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sygic.aura&feature=search_result

Wisepilot (5 days trial): https://market.android.com/details?id=org.microemu.android.se.appello.lp.Lightpilot&feature=related_apps

NDrive (looks less popular, maybe because there's no trial?): https://market.android.com/search?q=ndrive+thailand&so=1&c=apps

Tried both Sygic and NDrive while driving around Thailand, now driving with a dedicated Garmin GPS - maps are more accurate. Between Sygic and NDrive I would probably choose Sygic.

Actually, as I mentioned turn-by-turn Navigation for Google Maps can be enabled for Thailand. You also get audio. And you can cache some map areas with Google Maps. It's not perfect but it is an option.

The OSMAnd+ (Open Street Maps - Android) is also free (donation gets you automatic updates) and has fully downloadable maps for Thailand. It's pretty good.

These options were covered in the thread link I provided above.
