cheeryble Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Hi I have bleach and I have Oxygenating powder for laundry. I would like to mix them into a gel so it will stick to a very yellowed plastic Panasonic water heater cover for say half an hour maybe in the sun. I therefore need a thickener. Arrowroot is a possibility, and I have thought of mixing in some Angel Delight which has methoxycellulose in it....except it's coloured. So any white food thickeners? Or wallpaper paste has cellulose thickener....where can I buy that? I've not seen any of these for sale in CM....... Cheeryble
amexpat Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 You do know to be very careful about mixing chlorine bleach with anything, right?
CMSteve Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 not sure about using it for what you're doing, but corn starch is a pretty standard white food thickener. You can buy it any grocery.

CMSteve Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 You won't need the Thai. just goto the "baking" section of any grocery(the aisle with flour, etc) and you will see it in English. I don't think you'll have a problem with mixing chlorine with the starch, but like "DavidOxen" said, the starch need to be heated to activate.... not sure about using it for what you're doing, but corn starch is a pretty standard white food thickener.
