What Golf Ball Do You Use?

I play in Australia, I have no idea what it takes to be a pro in any other country as I don't live there and don't play there.

In case you still dont get this - it doesn't matter where you are. The rule is enforced globally (assuming you play according to the Rules of Golf).

And how was it with that Greg Norman statement "When I want to, I'm able to make impact with the top-back quadrant of the ball. I actually squeeze the ball down against the turf, applying enormous friction and backspin."..? I say this is utterly <deleted>. It is impossible to hit the top quadrant of a golf ball with a wedge, or at least while performing something that resembles a normal golf swing (as I have provided evidence). It is also IMPOSSIBLE to squeeze the ball against the turf (unless you hit it above the equator, which you cant do with a wedge). Granted this was believed to be the case until some 5 years ago, but luckily high speed photography have now resulted in a rewrite of the ball flight laws. But you STILL believe Greg Norman can do this...??

And if Greg Norman claims he can, he's dead wrong.

I was kind enough to provide a perfectly accurate description of the parameters that are important to be aware of if you want to spin the ball "far". I am presuming kenny555 meant with his shorter irons or wedges. If you read the article you'll find that Norman himself says "the shot should not be a long one. Since you need a fair amount of loft, don't try this shot with any club longer than a 7-iron." Here's a link to the article:

Just to give you an idea of the physics and mechanics involved, a modern 7-iron has about 35 degrees of loft. http://www.titleist....s/irons/MB.aspx In order to hit the top back quadrant of the ball, you are required to hit the ball with a -1 degree effective loft. To achieve this you need to de-loft your 7-iron 36 degrees. THIRTY SIX! In order to do that would have to hit the ball when your hands are roughly 55cm ahead of the ball. I'm sure you are beginning to see how ridiculous this statement is. And trust me, you are not going to create the spin required to suck a ball back. Not at all. As I have described in detail, it is friction that creates spin. and a ball struck at this angle is not going to create any friction at all. Here's the link:

For instance if I have 190 yards to the pin, I will feather a soft 6 iron right up there cozy like. If the distance is 197 yards, I will hit it just marginally harder, yet a teensy bit higher on the upper quadrant of the ball with a descending blow to create that magic backspin.

For instance if I have 190 yards to the pin, I will feather a soft 6 iron right up there cozy like. If the distance is 197 yards, I will hit it just marginally harder, yet a teensy bit higher on the upper quadrant of the ball with a descending blow to create that magic backspin.
