Visiting friends this morning, and the topic of HD channels came, up.... they say can only get two HD channels here on Samui.... with True visions,. Me thinks that surely cannot be correct? I've not used True for about year and a half, but thought they were up to 11 channels in HD now? I know it depends on package, but they say they have the package and decoder box.... I use Astro, I think there are 16 channels available, more than I watch any way.... Can anyone clarify please ?.... I can't see how it would make a difference to location in Thailand ....

I heard there was a problem last month with the server and stuff in Bangkok, and that the boxes needed reprogramming or something?

EDIT

Looks like PoorSucker has come up with a more relevant explanation.

Read the fine print.

(cable network only)

Yes, they mentioned something about needed to be on cable.... my thought was surely not....?. :o

I really find that hard to believe.... Well now we know and I will let them know too...

Funny thing is that is was their neighbour that got me switched to Astro. ..

Thanks Poorsucker and Itssohothere, for your input!.... who reads the fine print? :D

Are there any HD channels on Astro.

True visions is shit right now, I have it. :(

You did not read all of my original post.... PS

"I use Astro, I think there are 16 channels available, more than I watch any way...."

That is what I can get with the packages, I have, some not worth watching, next year will cut down on the choices...

Mind you a lot of the programing is the same source.(s)... just some better choices of Channels in the say news packages, includes Algerzeera (SP) which I think is best of all. the news channels... in my opinion.

Just no Thai soaps,, but there are Malaysian ones, but some are in English... not that I watch them! ;)

For the Brits there is even ITV Granada, but Coronation Street is fives years behind!

So, this would mean that those on True service would have to live in populated locations to receive HD.... with cable....:o

I guess I made a good choice, because at the time I did not know that!

Reception quality is very good, but you need a minimum 90 cm dish here... ... as the saying goes "you get what you pay for"

(Sorry for the wide spacing, I seem to get html code if I don't double space, )

I've just upgraded to True HD.

I'm impressed.

The phrase 'No satellite signal is being received' has never been so colourful and clear.

funny, because it's true.

i've had all of the truevision channels for a while and i don't think there are any HD channels. there are quite a few now that say HD in the header but are not actually HD.
