Hello from Australia. There are 4 adults coming back for our annual trip to Thailand, this March for a month.

Whenever we have been in this area,we have stayed at the Jomtien Thani.............

This time however,we decided we would stay in a Condo.

Have made enquiries at the View Talay, and can get 2 units on the 11th floor for 16,000baht for the month.

The problem is,when we went to pay, they wanted the whole months rent agai,as a bond!!Is this normal,or are they having a go?

We like the Jomtien Beach area, and dont mind the walk down the hill to the beach from Talay,we can get a tuk-tuk back again!!

Anyone know if this is the usual, regards bonds for Condos. Can anyone steer us to anywhere around the beach area that is reasonable, for a month?

Thanks in advance for your help, cheers,Brian

To ask for a deposit up front on top of rent in advance is standard practice.

Provided all utility bills have been paid and there has been no damage etc, the deposit will then be returned in full.

'the deposit will then be returned in full'

Stop stop I almost wet myself laughing.

Think when return deposit time comes some significant item will be damaged or missing...

So you have experience in this area,Yarpy?

After you have donned a nappy, please do share...

Hello flowerman,

as other posters have already stated, paying a deposit is standard practice, but you can save yourself the walk to the beach, a friend of mine rented a single unit at Jomtien Beach Condominium ( it,s only 100m back off the beach) for 8000bht per month with a 7000bht deposit which was returned to him minus the electricity used, he was very happy. His unit was furnished with TV fridge/freezer and A/C and they have hoses to wash your feet so as not to bring sand into your condo ( I own a unit there, but do not rent it out), if you are interested the link is [email protected] they also have two large swimming pools, Laundrys a small shop and a couple of eateries.
