South Korean Doctor Arrested at Bangkok Clinic Amidst Raid
BANGKOK - A South Korean doctor practicing in Thailand was arrested by Thai authorities during a raid on a central Bangkok beauty clinic. The operation was led by Dr. Phanuwat Panket, head of the Department of Health Services, alongside representatives from the Medical Council of Thailand and local police. The raid caught the doctor in the act of treating a patient, reportedly through agency referrals. The doctor faces charges under the Medical Profession Act B.E.2525 (1982) for practicing without proper registration and permission in Thailand, an offence with potential penalties of up to three years in prison and/or a fine of 30,000 baht. Dr. Topol Wattana from the Medical Council stated that they will be gathering evidence against the clinic for employing an unlicensed physician, with this offence carrying a penalty of up to two years imprisonment and/or a fine of 40,000 baht. The Council aims to submit this evidence to the Consumer Protection Police, prompting an interrogation of the doctor. Furthermore, the Immigration Police will be alerted to prevent the doctor's departure from Thailand. Should he evade detention, Interpol will be contacted to secure his capture. Dr. Akom Pradit Suwan, deputy chief of the Department of Health Services, emphasised the necessity for beauty clinics to comply with legal protocols when employing foreign doctors. Clinics must secure permission from the local health authority, and foreign doctors must pass exams to obtain a professional license to practice in Thailand. These developments highlight the stringent regulatory environment for medical practitioners in Thailand, especially those from abroad. Man Shot Dead in Confrontation with Local Youths in Udon Thani
A violent incident occurred late night on October 10, in Ban Khok Subdistrict, Sangkaom District, Udon Thani Province, leaving a 42-year-old man dead after a fatal altercation with a group of local youths. The incident took place in Village 10, where the victim reportedly got into a heated argument over the setting off of firecrackers, with the group. Tensions escalated, resulting in the fatal attack. Authorities from the Sangkaom Police Station quickly launched an investigation and were able to track down and arrest the suspect, a 19 year old from the same subdistrict. The weapon used in the attack was also recovered by the police, hidden under the seat of his motorcycle. Police believe the dispute may have been the result of ongoing tensions between the victim and the youths. The exact motives behind the altercation are still under investigation, but the teenager claimed he used the gun in self defence as the victim had threatened him with a stick. The youth told police he had bought the gun online for 32000 baht. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to bring clarity to the situation and ensure justice is served. I don’t think it’s anything to do with lane splitting. He shouldn’t have been on the car right of the highway, technically in some places, bikes should be over in the frontage, they shouldn’t be over on the right. Idk, riding those highways under the expressways used to scare the crap out of me. -

Are You A Sexpat Or Do You Ride The Backwards Morality Train?
How many judgmental posts have I read here on AN where one poster accuses another of being a sexpat, a monger, trying to get a leg over, etc. Really? All these people judging others from their glass houses. So petty. Who cares what other people do and what they come to Thailand for? You do you and forget the rest. When I first came here everyone was either a drunk, a shagger, a spook, a teacher, a backpacker, a property agent, a fugitive, an arms dealer, a movie producer or all of the above wrapped into one. Nobody cared what anyone else did. If you called someone in Bangkok a sexpat back in the eighties then they probably would have been flattered. It wasn't even a word! Then the place started to gentrify around Y2K, the morality police showed up in the form of Westerners that saw it fitting to start calling other foreigners names and attaching labels. Back then nobody even pretended to be in Thailand for the temples, the markets, the elephants, the culture, etc. Couldn't be arsed, nor did anyone have anything to hide. So now you got lots of desperados on AN that are tarring others with a dirty brush when they in fact might be doing even worse things themselves. Or maybe they are hoping to, but can't because they made the mistake of getting married too quickly. A sack of armchair critics who get a kick out of trolling others to see if they can trigger someone by calling them a sex tourist whenever anyone admits to enjoying the night life in Thailand. Give it all up already FFS. Don't be one of those minging geezers who can's stop himself from judging others for what they choose to do with their own bodies in the hub of nightlife.
