New Year Eve In Pattaya

Featured Replies

Last year I left Pattaya for gf's hometown on 31st of December. Saw massive preparations but everything was hushed down due to the tsunami that had killed thousands 5 days earlier.

The gala-dinner that we avoided made us save enough to have a party at the porch of the house upcountry and take inlaws to Koh Chang for a break.

This year I am renting an apartment from a friend and will be in Pattaya, Jomtien.

Is there a central fun-place for the NYE or is it up to each establishment to arrange what they see fit?

I mean, is there a place to go and watch fireworks or something? In Jomtien, I would not go to South Pattaya (due to 2yrs old baby).

Normally all the action is centred around Bali Hai pier (the new one beyond the south entrance to Walking Street). It was wonderful in 2003, but cancelled in 2004 because of the tsunami. I've not heard anything yet about this year but guess there will be something at the pier.

BTW in 2003 loads of people around, but not one ounce of trouble. There was an amazing fireworks display, plus jet-skiers doing a water ballet, plus powered hang-gliders. Stunning!

Sounds like a blast.  How do we find a link to this year's plans?

To have a link would require Pre-Planning :D it's only November! TIT :o

Cheers :D
