By screen I assume you mean a laptop screen? Maybe it's your screen that's the problem?

Can you get a monitor to plug it into and try again?

If it's not a laptop, still might be a monitor issue and try with another monitor.

Does the HD make the usual clicking sound when you press the power button? Do the ventilation fans operate? If not, check battery and / or power adaptor first.

Thanks mate, I confirmed, it's not the monitor's fault.

Thanks mate, power adaptor properly plugged in. Power on, have clicking sound.

No traced of the fan sound.

Hard to say on remote, but could be caused by a loose RAM module. You can check & fix it yourself if you know how to access it otherwise, take it to the service center.

Still not clear if it's a laptop or desktop, however since you state the monitor is ok, I will assume desktop.

If you fans aren't running, it's most likely a PSU problem.

Can you hear the hard drive(s) spinning up?

The battery could have shorted out.

Start with removing the battery, then plug the laptop in to and AC outlet and see it that works.

Oh, no battery in it! I used the adaptor to start !

Well then it's a bit more complicated, the hard drive could be fried, or as another poster mentioned, a RAM module might not be seated properly.

It could also be a bad electrical connection somewhere, the humidity here is not the best environment for electronics.

You say you hear clicking sounds. Do you hear any beeps when you initially turn on the power.

No beeps!

OK, then power is disrupted somewhere. If you put the battery back in the laptop and then connect the charger, does the light turn on indicating that the battery is charging?

Depending on the brand, it will have different looks, possibly an orange/yellow/red light if it's charging and a green color if the battery is fully charged.

There should be a little flash icon or similar next to it.

With the bad weather we've had lately, there could have been an electrical spike that fried the AC/DC converter.

How have you confirmed it's not a screen problem?

Have you been able to plug something into the laptop screen to check it?

A couple months ago my HP deskop was completely dead as I tried to boot in the morning.

had worked fine the day before..

No monitor, no HD light, no noise, no fan. No nothing.

I took it to HP BKK where it was fixed for free in no time.

Problem was oxydised RAM modules contacts.

The tech used a school pencil eraser to clean those contacts and that was it.

No problems since.
