Australian dies in hotel fall

Boonlua Chatree

An Australian fell to his death from the eighth floor of a hotel on Pattaya 2 Road, scattering tourists who saw him fall.

Police called to the scene found the body of Shaun Michael McVeigh, age 37, lying on the roadside at the side of the hotel. The hotel manager and staff told the officers that the guest had checked into a room on the eighth floor on October 23. They had no idea how he could have fallen.

Pattaya Hotels must secure there balconys. This is happening far to often lately. Proper bars must be installed on all balconys to prevent these jumpers/pushed from doing this. I will be very pissed if one of them lands on me when i am walking. :o

Height of the balconies is what needs to be improved - lets face it most of them are waist high.

MJ- Prob be dead if a jumper lands on you. :o

Dave - though HM was elsewhere, when's he back?

From watching television this morning, it seems there was yet another one a day or two ago. Apparently some German ended it all from the 8th floor of Yensabai Condo if I recall correctly.

It seems he was not not looking forward to his trial next week for the murder of his wife in Pattaya about a year ago.

Odd as it seems to me, he was supposedly out on 500,000 baht bail... :o

"Unsecure balcony's'

This brings to mind a report that was in the Pattaya mail some years back.

A British couple were looking at Condo's, while inspecting one high rise with a view to purchase, the husband asked the agent if the floor to ceiling windows were secure, while giving it a good test.

Yes, he disappeared from view leaving wife and agent standing there! :D

I wonder if she recovered from this traumatic event and relocated to Pattaya :D
