The Baht rate in the UK has gone from about 47, to just over 49, against Sterling in about a fortnight. As I'm about to transfer a sum of money to Thailand, in the near future, is this rise likely to continue, in the short term?

My guess is that it might go up...or it might go down..or it might stay the same. And i am 100% certain that i am right.

Seriously. Trying to predict currency exchange rates is like trying to predict what disaster requiring immediate money a Soi Cowboy dancer will dream up.

Set a date. Cross your fingers and change your money. Sometimes you might get lucky and it goes in your favor...or not. Even the vast majority of the smartest of the smart currency traders who do nothing all day every day don't really know which way it may go. If they did they would all be retired already.

Good luck.

The baht will move in a direction that guarantees "certain people" will make a killing. You and I aren't on that list.

The best we can hope for is to win some, lose some and give most of our "winnings" to the middlemen.

Just think Las Vegas and you get the idea.

Thailand's GDP forecast has dropped so you're seeing 49 to Sterling, but don't forget the Bank Of England has just started another round of QE so the this may balance out the flood's impact. Who knows
