PM Meets with Officials at FROC

The premier arrives at the Flood Relief Operations Center at 10.30 AM this morning ready to meet with flood officials about the increasing risk of flood that is threatening to inundate various parts of Bangkok.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra arrived at the Flood Relief Operations Center (FROC) at about 10.30 AM this morning. She's scheduled to meet with related officials and agencies about the flood situation in Bangkok and nearby metropolitan areas. The premier is expected to be stationed at the FROC at Don Muang Airport today with no schedule to visit flood hit areas.

All eyes are on the premier's next strategy after both the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (midnight, Oct 23) and FROC (Oct 24, 5AM) issued a serious warning for residents in Don Mueang, Laksi, Bangkhen, Chatuchak, Bangsue and Saimai to relocate children, the elderly and their valuables to higher grounds.

Hok Wa Communities Begin to Relocate

Communities near the Hok Wa Canal have begun to relocate and move their belongings to high ground as water continues to rise from the ground flooding the Sai Mai School.

The level of water at Hok Wa Canal continues to rise despite the authorities' best efforts to raise and strengthen the flood barriers along both sides of the canal. At 11AM (Oct 24), the flood barriers now stand at approximately 1.5 meters, which is approximately 20-30 cm above the water level.

However, water has begun to leak pass the sandbags and into nearby communities including the Sai Mai School. Officials are doing their best to drain the water out of the school. Meanwhile, residents living in communities near the Hok Wa Canal have begun to relocate and move their belongings to the second floor of higher ground.
