I have a TV with an HDMI slot can I just plug an HDMI lead from my computer to the TV to get what is normally on my monitor on my TV. Or is there other things I need to do as well. Thanks in advance. Pattel

If your computer has an HDMI port as well, a simple cable would do. The TV will show up as a second monitor.

Thanks for that. Off to TUK.COM tommorrow to buy a lead. Thanks

You will also have to set it up as an external monitor in Control Panel>Display>Settings

I am glad you added that bit of information as a couple of weeks ago I bought a good quality Hdmi cable and plugged it into computer and TV and nothing happened. Tomorrow I will try what you suggest. Thanks.

On the 'Settings' tab there is a box under 'display'. Does it say 'Default Monitor'?

Click on the down arrow to the right and choose the 'Multiple Monitors' option.

This is on XP by the way.

Assuming that you have a laptop, you should find that on the upper row of keys you have one that controls the twin monitor system, usually accessible by pushing the function key at the same time. You may or may not need to push it. See the manual.

You would also need to have suitable video drivers installed, and you should visit the laptop manufacturer's website to check this.

If you have a desktop machine, just see the ATI, NVIDIA or Intel site for the correct driver, according to your video card.
