I went to the immigration office (Phatum Thani on 28 September)for an extension to a 30 day visa on arrival, normally they give a 14 day extension to this type of visa, but on this occasion I only received 7 days.

They offered a 60 day extension due to marriage which I did not need.

So is 7 day extensions the new rule.

You got it on 28 Sept, and post today?

VOA is a different kettle of fish to other visas.

I will arrive in Thailand soon, again with a VOA, the 7 day extension fitted my travel plans fine, but in future I may need longer, so is a 7 days extension now the rule.

You don't have a visa on arrival, but a visa exempt entry.

Yes, you can only get a maximum of 7 days. It is not even a real extension and they might refuse it if you can't show a ticket out within those 7 days.
