Crime Brazilian Tourist Arrested in Patong After Rooftop Incident

Police in Patong dealt with a chaotic late-night incident involving a Brazilian tourist who climbed onto the roof of a massage parlour on Thaweewong Road, while behaving erratically. Officers arrived at the scene after reports of the disturbance. The tourist initially appeared to calm down and agreed to be taken to Patong Hospital. However, upon arrival, he became delirious again and started more erratic behaviour, with hospital staff unable to control him. Authorities arrested the man on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct, which posed a risk to himself and others. He was handcuffed, restrained and handed over to investigators to process at Patong Police Station for legal proceedings during the early hours of 23 August. Accident Truck Smashes Into Car, Crushing It in Pile-Up

A traffic collision occurred on the morning of 23 August, on Setthakit Road in Chonburi when a 12-wheeled truck failed to notice or stop in time, crashing into a Honda HR-V and pushing it into a six-wheeled lorry. The collision took place at around 09:00 near the NK Minimart U-turn in Nong Ri Subdistrict. Police from Mueang Chonburi Station, along with rescue teams from Thammarat Manee Rat Foundation, rushed to the scene. At the site, authorities found the Hino 12-wheeler, registered in Rayong and used for transporting animal feed, with front-end damage. It had collided with a black Honda HR-V from Bangkok, which in turn had been pushed into the rear of a Hino six-wheeler registered in Phetchabun, leaving both vehicles damaged. Miraculously, the HR-V’s occupants, a man and a woman, sustained only minor injuries, despite the severe impact. Witnesses and rescuers expressed surprise at how lightly they were hurt given the destruction to their vehicle. The 34-year-old driver of the 12-wheeler, Mr. Theerasak, told police he had seen the vehicle in front slowing to turn and braked too late to avoid a collision. However, preliminary CCTV footage did not fully match his account, prompting police to summon him for further questioning at Mueang Chonburi Station.
