I've tried to search about it but it raised more questions than answers to be honest, so now I'm considering to change my default app either to VLC or MPlayer... However, I still like iTunes and I'd give it one last chance if I can make it play my FLAC files...

Has anyone a magic recipe?

Yes. At least according to a friend. I was too lazy to be bothered when I can use a different player like COG or VLC to play flac files or convert them in batches to ACC or what ever format I want with xACT. If you want the song to play on your mobile device then use xACT and convert the file to ACC at a high bit rate, like 256 kbps. But if you would like to read up on it and try, see this: Itunes will play FLAC (fyi) you just have to add the framework.

if you are interested, here is an article on it.

Let me know if you do it and if it's worth the effort. When I saw I would have to rename every file I said forget it. I guess one could write a script to do it?
