BTW I removed the map as it looked out-of-scale, stretched. The yellow line is the international border according to the legend, but that is incorrect at least in the right upper part of the map. The border there follows the Mekong. This map I took from wiki

Phiphidon's map shows the Chao Phraya river catchment, which is basically from the top of Thailand down through the central area to Bangkok. It looked stretched because it didn't actually show a large area of Thailand - ie the North East was not showing. On the map, the yellow line goes off to the right and disappears out of picture. (maybe something to do with them not liking the colour yellow around that area).

The border shown on the map is also correct. It doesn't follow the Mekhong in that area. This land was ceded to France in 1904.

You're right. I was confused by a map showing mostly North-to-Bangkok in a discussion wondering about North-East villagers supporting Pol.Gen. Pracha and me also mentioning 'true, there was flooding in Udon Thani'.

The map shown by PPD gives the ChaoPraya catchment area. North-East is not on the map, mostly draining into the Mekong. Furthermore on a forum where a poster first puts a flooded DonMeuang the funny picture placed by PPD appears. Makes you really wonder what the relation is supposed to be with North-East :ermm:

I always thought Udon Thani was in Isaan. I never knew it was a suburb of Bangkok.
