Last time I bought one in bkk the OS came with it, now they all seem to come with only DOS installed. Dos is pretty much useless so i don't know why they bother installing it at all. Will stores like IT City install widows for you or do you have to buy it separately and install it yourself? Why did they stop selling machines without a usable OS? at least on the cheaper machines.

I would look around, some stores like Banana IT have the option to buy with genuine Windows installed and give you a product. But be aware some will install a copied version with out a product key.

Download and install Ubuntu free and will do everything Windoze does.

tried Ubuntu but ti does not read SD cards out of the camera like windows does, does not have photoshop (gimp etc are not good enough) and does some wierd things like freezing and disconecting the wi fi for no reason. Good for free but limited.

I can read my SD cards, Gimp is more than powerful. It also not freezes and WiFi works around the clock. Good for free, but unlimited software.

I even can use MS Windows XP/7 and others in a virtual machine...

Agree i can do all of the above as what Aachen said as well. You need just to spend a little more effort on it to learn how to use it properly.

When was the last time you tried Ubuntu?  Older versions had problems, but currentt versions do not.  Installation is faster than windoze and painless.  Ubuntu just works. Period.

using 10.4 and it will not recognise SD cards, USB no problem. I think linux certainly has problems but I might give the new version another look. I like the way it downloads stuff and puts in in the right place, far better than windows
