Hi Had a whitish spot only tongue for many months even best part of a year.It was very small less than 2 mmI went to an ENT guy and ,as I have fiund in Thailand, I found his analysis strange. He suggested I went to the dentist and that the area was a reaction to irritation from teeth.Although I had a newish cap on my incisor I checked with a mirror and there was no metal of any type, nor was there any sharp edge, all smooth. So I Isley didn't go.Now it's some months later, and the spot has grown about double, perhapsa full 2mm +So I went to the Ram yesterday. Unlike he first guy he looked at it with a lens system and told me he thought it was non cancerous and perhaps a blocked salivary gland. He said I could take it out or not as I pleased. Now the spot is slightly left of centre on the top of the tip.....the most vital spot for Its of enjoyable activities (!) and what's more it's becoming more visible, and rather distasteful. But he said it would have to be fully excised with a wedge around i. I suggested it would be a 4mm wedge and he nodded. My question here is....Do I get it done like that, or couldn't,t it be sort of "opened" with a scalpel tip without the biopsy he suggested, thus obviating the hole which I fear will remove a very sensitive little area?(he did say they'd biopsy it....but is he just being careful to a fault in the 1/10,000 case it might be malign?

BTW the first guy I'm sure didn't look at the back of my incisors. Why is everything so hit and miss here, seems to me you really have to look after yourself.

(sorry about iPad typing mistakes)
