I arrived in Chumpon yesterday late in the evening to discover the fares to KT, KP and KS have rocketed!

Chumpon to KT 600 baht.

Chumpon to KP 1,000 baht. <deleted>!!!!!!!!

Chumpon to KS 1,100 baht. as above!

This was my last trip using them, I think it is disgusting that they are more than doubling their fares without considering those who live on the islands. I am aware there is a resident's discount card, but unless the discount is more than 50% their pricing is ludicrous!

Oh yes, my apologies to the owner of the guesthouse who quoted me this price at 1:00am - in my defence I had been in transit from PP for 25 hours. Sorry for my reaction. :-)

And to Lomprayah - my purchase of a ticket to KT (and illegal onward travel) was the only protest I could muster. Screw you anyway, I will never use your services again. Greedy pigs.

bkk samui was 950 baht three weeks ago now it is 1600 so the rise is because they became greedy on the ferry fares.

it was already very expensive now it became totally insane...

i've never taken lomprayah ferry anywhere but i find it strange that a ticket price of just over 1k thb for a several hour high speed trip is considered outrageous.

ok so a complaint could be made that there is no discount for residents, but complaining about 1,100 thb for samui to chumpon? what am i missing?

if you are visiting chumpon area for a weekend or holiday then yes it is pretty obvious that driving yourself up there is the way to go. the highway is very clearly marked, plenty of fuel and food stops and offers some nice sightseeing as well. don't forget to use your credit card for the car booking so that you get free 24/7 road assistance and insurance in addition to free miles. just don't forget to pay 470thb for the return ferry otherwise you'll be stuck in donsak for a bit longer than expected.

I agree

especially when you see 1,000 baht for the trip to KPN for the FMP. That is outragous. It should be at least 2,000 baht for the party. (All of these rich tourists you see.)drunk.gif

have to disagree. the party should be free, safe transport back and forth however is priceless

My preference for ferry is usually Lomprayah if I am headed to KP or BKK.... mostly because convenient to my house and faster than other options.

Easy to park bike or car in Maenam behind the ticket office and leave it there... free.

Today I had to meet two people coming in on the 5 pm ferry.... amazingly not just one full ferry but two... ohmy.png

As a word of advice: if you are headed to resort in Maenam the taxi bus cost is 100 baht...at the terminal. (no need to pre-buy the taxi bus ticket at starting point, cos you'll pay 150 baht!!!! )

If you pre-book (when buying ferry/ bus ticket,) the taxi bus to any resort on Samui is 150 baht... now that's a good deal.

They have areas around the island sorted to buses going to a particular area ready organized when you get off the boat.... "Yes" on your sticker means Taxi service paid.... and you'll be directed to the buses.

Quite a "well oiled" machine, I say.... so stupid farang not get lost! laugh.png... well .... Thai locals too, many use the Lomprayah ferry too.... and pay the same price... although "Senior Thai's" do get a discount...

Also for those who have not been to Maenam terminal lately, they now have a new pier to load and unload!
