December 25, 201114 yr Making trifle and looking for Chambord or Red Sherry or even better Manichevitz wine. No luck at Rimping Rumchok.
December 25, 201114 yr Not sure where's best for the cooking wines you're asking about, but for savory cooking I do enjoy most of my seafood with a shot of Xiao Hsing that I buy from a Chinese lady in Warorot - you can spot her buy her dried mushrooms, beans, etc. Also works great when you marinade chicken overnight. IN most cases it's most friendly with your Asian recipes. If cooking distinctly Western dishes I'd prob throw in Whiskey. Same said whiskey might give your trifle a good kick too ! I know you know your cooking wines, just wanted to drop the info about the Xiao Hsing in Warorot. Reg sized wine bottle for about 150 B if memory serves me correctly.
December 26, 201114 yr Author thanks, making a Tropical Trifle w/local ingredients and heading over there for mangoes and strawberries today so I'll check her out or at least her wine
December 28, 201114 yr The best chance IMO is the large Liquor shop opposite the Thai Air lines Office just inside from Chuang Puak gate, best range of spirits & Liqueurs I have seen in CM
December 28, 201114 yr For sherry that would be fine to cook with, Majesty Thai Sherry is a good choice. It's been re branded as Fruit Wine over the last year or so as the Thais haven't the faintest idea what sherry is. Chilled its nice to drink and for cooking purposes I'm sure it would fulfill most needs. Rimping Meechok ran out over Christmas but I've been told they will restock. Cold Beer, Warm Atmosphere
