Mtb Cassette Prices

Featured Replies

Six years ago you could buy a Shimano XT 9 speed cassette for about 35 dollars US back in the USA. Today the cheapest price you can find is about double. Just put a new one on yesterday here in Chiang Mai and paid 2000 baht. Anyone find any aftermarket cassettes that are worth trying out? I am a heavier rider and ride in the mud a lot so I tend to go through them faster than most folks.

Sounds like a Shimano SLX cassette for 2k baht. I think that is the best value these days but its about 40 grams heavier than the Shimano XT that costs upwards of 2800 baht in the stores here.

For shimano its not much diff in price between here and the US.

I have tried SRAM but I don't think they shift as well.

The best prices I have found in Thailand for shimano stuff is September-19 ebay seller. They are located in Thailand so the shipping charges are reasonable and quick shipment.

I agree the Shimano stuff shifts better than SRAM, but after a few months, it is probably a wash. Havent seen the SRAM stuff for sale here however. Thanks for the ebay lin. He sure has a lot of stuff for sale so it must be run by someone like probike. I miss the huge discounts you could get back at Icycle and another mail order place in Missoula Montana.

yeah no question better deals in the US for just about everything cycling. I am heading back in February and have a list of parts to get.

Stans ZTR Crest wheels

Moots Cinch Seatpost

XT shifter and brakes

Fizik Saddle

Sidi Shoes

I did notice SRAM cassettes and chains at Chittawat bike shop. Didn't look at the price though.

If someone wants a SRAM PC-48 chain (8speed) then I have a new never opened one. I upgraded to 9 speed so can't use it.
