Born baby on Koh Samui 27/12/2011

Last march my wife notice she was pregnant,so we had to decide to see a docter and hospital. We went to a medium hospital opposite Tesco lotus Chaweng.Everiything seems okay, friendly people and docter. The first month’s my wife had to come for check up one time a month and in November and December 2 time’s a month. So far so good.On 24/12 my wife lost blood in the early morning and she was not feeling to good, she said I think I will born the baby today. So I phone to the docter to ask him what to do.When I told him what happend he just say <I am sorry but I am in Bangkok right now,you have to go to samui hospital,I will be on Samui 27/28 december>.But this hospital will only deliver your baby when you came there a couple of time’s before born. You now for the check up, I understand that they not like surprises. Then me and my wife went to the hospital opposite tesco Chaweng where we went to see the docter for nearly 9 month’s to see what to do. I couldt not believe what happend there, the nurse came to us and told us the docter can not come and we have no other docter to deliver a baby?I told here you are joking ain’t you? No she said, this happend many times before,we have to send the pregnant woman to other hospital,we told the docter this many times but he won’t listen to us,please will you get angry on him maybe he will listen then? I told her this is a question for director and not for the patient/customer! I ask her what to do but she said I don’t now,go try other hospital. Then we went to the old Samui hospital near the crossroad to the airport, again very friendly they did a check up and say there was a big possibility that my wife born today,I paid the 1500 bath and the hospital send us home because that was better to relax.Okay we went home, my wife start to get nervous, after a 1 houre the hospital who I paid 1500 bath for a examination from 5 minutes told us sorry we can’t deliver your baby because we have no docter for this in the hospital! I start to get scary visions to deliver the baby myself with the help of the internet and you tube.I told my wife we have only one more option we have to go to the islands biggest and most expencive hospital on Chaweng. When we arrive at the hospital they were acting very professional there was no problem at all they have 24/7 365 day’s docters and nurses around and they told us they can deliver the baby. Then a lady from the administration came to see me to tell me about the cost of delivery and stay in the hospital, that moment I was in need for some oxygen but what can you do, to deliver it myself was no option as you will understand. Then in 3 hours the baby was there ,all the time there where 2 professional docters and 6 very competent nurses around. The room was very good and clean. And the next day when they came with the bill it was after all a bit over the half as what they first mention, and not so much more then the other hospitals. Why I write this letter and not say :okay forget it ,This Is Thailand, is because to let the foreigner with thai wife now to be careful ,check and double check there is always’s a competent docter around to take care your wife and unborn baby.

To the administrator please don’t send this at once to Samui forum because it will help foreigner all over Thailand.

Thanks

Glad to hear all are well. Haven't got a clue what the meaning of the thread is however as the English is shocking.

I think the O P is not english literate as possibly it's not their first language, I get the drift though.

A good heads up for anyone on a breeding programme.

Sounds like a nightmare, but I am glad that it all worked out.

Good luck to you and your new family.

Starcandle - that is a classic.

A quick search on this forum would have shown you that in case of emergencies, all hospitals send the expecting mothers to the Government hospital in Nathon, where the best equipment for delivery emergencies is located. Check this thread.

Good to know that everything worked out fine in the end though, next time use bigger fonts though.

i wont comment on your grammer, font size, or level of english as i understood the message loud and clear. You get what you pay for and when it comes to medical care being cheep may end up costing more. thanks for the heads up and very happy that your wife and baby are well and safe.

I beg your pardon that the English is not up to your standards. This forum is open to all, perhaps a bit more tolerance to others might help.
