There's lots of folks who have negative views of the BBC primarily because they only see/hear the BBC World rubbish. I often recommend that they listen to Radio 4 or the World Service online. It's available all over the world unlike BBC TV. As an example I spent 30 minutes this afternoon listening a to a programme solely devoted to black Labrador dogs and whale shit and not a single advert in earshot. How good is that eh?! laugh.png

People who hate the BBC are usually the same people who describe CNN as part of the "liberal" media. laugh.pngrolleyes.gif

My staple background 'noise' when at home is bbc radio 5. Slightly down market but excellent.unbiased live 24/7 coverage of local and world news and sport.

Radio 4 and world service radio also v good. Bbc tv world service is garbage and getting worse. Aljazeera beats it into cocked hat but sadly reception these days is very iffy.

Well i hope you are enjoying it as thre BBC has spent a huge chunk of its budget on its telecomms and overseas service in the last few years....and to much grumbling at home.

Enjoy it while you can!

Edit: That to me shows the BBC having a better vision of how they should be evolving than the political nobodies now running the country.

+1 re Radio 5live. Good channel, the BBC World Service is being starved of funds which I think is a mistake. On the other hand there's no way they could get the resources to compete with Skynews, CNN etc so what can be done? I reckon they should feed BBC News24 via the World Service and supplement it with local features.

The World Service is now being funded by the Beeb rather than the FCO.

If you enjoy comedy you'll be on youtube for hours.

(please do not report him for copyright infringement, too many people from outside the UK need access to that stuff imo)

Good point, I forgot about that.......News24 has a good steady output, and it would be a good news stream for we expats......its never really taken off in the UK and I think that is partly to do with its position on digital services, its always overwhelmed by SkyNews..........however I dont think its in the firing line to be chopped, so using it as the backbone of the world service would probably be a good move.
