Dentist In A Day

Featured Replies

I am looking for a crown made hopefully in a day. I do not want to spend my week in Thailand as I am headed to Cambodia soon. I am looking for about paying $100 US as I was told that was the going price there.

Sorry but $100 is not going to pay for one day crown unless being made by a Thai worker from your other post Looking For A Reliable Thai Construction Worker. I suspect you will have to pay 5 times that amount, or even more.

Can I have the work started and then comeback later to have it finished in a week and what is a good price for that?

If you are talking about the crown and not the undefined work yes you can visit to prepare the base for the crown but if you need a pin/root canal it would involved more than one visit most places. If just replacement crown or sound tooth you could have removed/filled/shaped/impression taken/temporary cap in one visit and return a week later for final crown. Believe normal price range is about 7 - 17,000 baht depending on office and content/type. RCT and pin would be additional cost if required.

The root canal and the build up has already been done. The medical insurance doesn't cover crowns.

In that case just remove the temp you now have - make impression and re-glue temp until new crown made. Believe one shot process would be at high end of price range but have not checked as always return next week.

You can get it done for less in Phnom Penh and (unlike the quality of medical care) quality of dental serviecs there are quite high, in fact Cambodia is a dental tourism location.

The most prominent international dental clinic there offers same day crowns using computerized modelling which does away with the need to take a manual impression,. Costs more, of course, I'm not sure by how much but easy enough to email and ask.

Cost even for a conventionally made crown (1-2 week wait) is still not likely to be $100, though, probably closer to $200. Although it does vary by the type of crown you select.

As a point of reference my niece just had a crown done there on a tooth that had already had a root canal for $200 (not the same day service -- took about 10 days). This did include the removal of the broken tooth and the build up so your cost would be less but not by half as it is the crown itself that costs most.

Going price for a standard non-precious metal crown in Thailand at a standard dentist (not one of the fancy tourist traps in Silom) is Bt5,500 but doubt you'll get one in a day.

As Sheryl said, there are plenty of good dentists in Phnom Penh and the price there is a little lower than Thailand, but the quality very good.

A crown in one day is possible but definitely not for 100 bucks! I got one porcelain crown done in one day at Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic in Asoke area. This dental clinic has its own lab so they could make it in one day. Check their recent price at www.bangkoksmiledental.com
