Fuel Pump Scam In Chiang Rai.

Featured Replies

For the last few tears I have been getting my diesel in the same place on the Wiang Chai Road.

We also use it to park our car when going to the local market.

Recently I became suspicious of the amount of diesel they were giving me for 1000 baht and a few days ago I watched the guy pumping diesel..

There was 200 baht from the previous sale and when the guy put the pump in my car and began to pour, it did not go back to zero but started at 200 baht.

I stopped him immediatly . The owner came out and said the pump was faulty but I drove away as I was in a hurry.

The gas station is a scam and cheats people.

Does anybody know where I can report them?

Thai Visa does not allow me to name them but I can give you the name if you PM me.

That's a popular scam all over Thailand and reporting it does little good, the BIB simply don't want to know. Typically that scam is worked on a smaller scale where it's rush hour and there's a bunch of motorbikes each getting fifty baht fill ups and the nozzle is handed from one attendant to another without resetting the dial.

There's only one answer I'm afraid, get out of your car and stand next to the pump from the very start of the process, don't give them your order from the car, wait until you're stood right next to the filler cap and you can watch everything from the get go.

That trick/scam has been tried on me all over Thailand. They always usher you past the Bowser so as you cant see the Baht readout and they do their fiddle. I stop right at the Bowser and myself or my wife make sure the meter is zeroed.
