Will Thai Customs Confiscate Our Sex Toys?

Sex toys are illegal. Not to long ago, a foreign shop owner in Pattaya was arrested for making and selling them.

...

The last time I checked, they were back in business, but not sure now ...

Personally, I wouldn't order sex toys to import because they ARE illegal. Let us know what happens. For people directly importing in their luggage, be sure to remove or disable any BATTERIES. Picture the scene if your luggage starts vibrating ...ohmy.png

Happened to a mate of mine after the 'plane had boarded.

All luggage had to be taken out of the hold and individually identified until they found the culprit.

These toys are presumably operated by simple batteries.. i fail to grasp how they can vibrate a complete suitcase (especially if there are clothes and stuff in the suitcase. Sounds like a tall tale.

This is a funny old forum.

I thought you were not allowed to discuss illegal activites on here yet 2 mods have already joined in the discuission.

Anyone know had hard it is to smuggle 1 kg of crack cocaine into suvarnbhumi these days?

Severity of the violation massively different.

I brought two with me on my last trip in checked baggage and bought rechargeable batteries too.

Great fun ;)

Thanks for the answers everyone. I've done some more research and it seems that I will not be punished if they find my stuff in the mail. They will simply confiscate it.

I will place the order and see what happens.

Put them in your hand luggage when you leave your country. On entering Thailand go to the bathroom and put them where they are used. At least then if you're searched it will spice things up. Feel free to turn on any batteries when you're placing them. This is after all the Land of Smiles, and you will make a great impression at passport control and customs with your expressions on entry.

I recall that about 5 years ago 7-11 was in the dock as well for selling some kind of sex toys. rolleyes.gif

, and some for her to play with when I am away on work.

If you fail to import. You can PM me your address, and I can play with your gf. tongue.png

dont you wish you could actually still get it up. one suspects if there were any threat of that you wouldn't spent so much time on here posting your stupid one liners.

Oh well, to dream.

You forget, some of YOU need batteries to do the business.

A vast majority of sex toys sold in the US are made in China (where they are also illegal to use.) So I would imagine that any you can buy on the street here are of the same quality as you would get in the US. I am not sure how the prices would compare, though.

My experience of Chinese (and Taiwanese, and Thai) products is that those manufactured for Western brands, to Western quality standards, are of a far higher quality than those manufactured for Asian markets to Asian quality standards. I believe that the Japanese can also deliver to a far lower standard, if the customer requires it. I would say that products you can buy from an unlicensed roadside stall here would be of no higher quality than those you could buy from an unlicensed roadside stall in the US.

Quality, schmality, it's not as if you're buying a family heirloom!

I'd not want to be messing about with second-rate rabbits running amok outwith their specification on a sunny afternoon...

For those expats that travel occasionally back to their home countries the best solution is to buy sex toys there and then put them in your checked luggage when traveling back to Thailand. If you buy more than one toy, try to pack them close together so they don't show up so blatantly on the x-ray machines at the airports. I have done this multiple times and have never had any questions asked. DO NOT put sex toys in your carry-on luggage. They are checked more thoroughly for things like this, especially at arrival in Thailand (or I guess it's probable that it gets spotted at check-in in your home country, too, but nothing is said because there it's not illegal). Plenty of people have had sex toys confiscated at airports in Thailand. And many times the customs officials will open your hand luggage and take out the sex toys and show them around to their colleagues in plain view of other passengers while they laugh at you and make offensive comments - before they confiscate them. This has been reported in the Thai press more than once.

I'm sorry I couldn't come up with at least one snide comment aimed at another poster in this post - as that is tradition at ThaiVisa. But that will be more than made up for in the following posts, I am sure...

I had an embarrassing event at Mascot. They did a search right out in the open where everyone could see and she asked me whats in that bag (had to be a she of course) and I said you really dont want to look in there so she did and took out several vibrators and butt plugs etc, wearing rubber gloves and laid them on the counter along with a bunch of viagra. she probed them a bit just in case they were concealing heroin or something.

I remember many years ago, when Don Muang was still in use, returning from Europe with a Thai girl.Customs wanted to have a look at both our luggage.

One of the officers sticks his hand deep in the girls suitcase to pull it out holding one of those chrome appliances used for an intensive massage.

He sticks it into the air for a minute, while looking at the red faced girl, then puts it back into the suitcase without a question.

One of those fond memories.

Something that was bemusing me about Thai customs officers at swampy has been answered. When I have been coming back in from Oz and had the bag x-rayed a couple of times there has been some mirth and giggles from the person viewing the screen, and getting other officers to come and have a look. No not vibrators etc, but the similarly sized and shaped spicy cacciatore sausages I like to bring back. licklips.gif

ROTFLMAO. clap2.gifclap2.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

The best bit is while they are looking at my spicy sausages, thinking they are rubber sausages, they are completely missing the 4 litres or so of "grape juice'. This has made my day. The Thai people I work with think the falang has lost it as I am laughing so much, which just makes it funnier. I have tried explaining this sort of thing before, but just get polite looks of misunderstanding. Oh well back to work and just keep chuckling. sorry.gif

Cheers
