Samui Immigration 30 Day Visa Extension

Featured Replies

We have a 2 month visa and would like to extend it for 30 days on Samui.

As travel from our place on Koh Phangan might be limited in the next week: http://www.windguru.cz/nl/index.php?sc=30397 due to high waves and rain we are thinking of extending our visa 5 days before expiring. Because our flight leaves 30 days after the 2 month visa expires we do not want to loose any days.

How easy are the Samui oficials when you arrive 5 days early? Are there any official rules? Any experiences?

You do not lose any days by applying for the extension early, in fact it is advised to do it about a week or even 2 before. The extension starts when the current permisison to stay ends.

Thanks for the help.

We went there yesterday from Ko Phangan and the easiest way (from Hat Rin / Hat Yuan / Hat Thien) is to take the 9.30 ferry from Hat Rin --> 10.20 Big Buddha pier --> rent motorbike 200TBH --> Samui Immigration is about 20Km to the north, going through Nathon turning right at traffic lights. Gave them passports and pasfoto and they asked to come back in 1 hour. When arriving back, we were asked to sign 2 forms with pasfoto attached and "come back in 1 hour again". Went shopping at Tesco and then back to Big Buddha Pier where the ferry left at 16.00.

In Nathon all motorbikes were stopped for "helmet inspection" (13.45). There were about 5 officers on all corners of Pier / police station and we were luckily not stopped as we both had helmets on and the bands attached!

30-day extensions are as extinct as the dinosaurs. Did you actually get this or the regular 7 days?

The OP has a tourist visa (60 days), these can be extended by 30 days. You are probably mistaken with a visa exempt entry of 30 days, these can indeed no longer be extended but for 7 days to get out of dodge

Thanks for the help.

Sounds rather odd. All I have done before is fill in a form, hand that over along with a photo and passport (and money) then come back later. Maybe you caught them at lunchtime.

the 60 day TR can be extemded at a local immigrationoffice in Samui? From what Iheard only on a Visa run? Can somebody reconfirm this?

A 60 day tourist visa can be extended at Nathon immigration office. Passport, money, photo and form needed. I did it a few years ago.)

but still possible?

but still possible?

We have a dedicated Visa section, it is wiser to ask your particular question there. As I mentioned in your other topic Visa requirements & regulations are basically uniform throughout all immigration offices, might be slight difference in requirements , but fundamentally similar.
