2 years ago a buddy and I built 3 machines from hardware at turkcom

running OSX Tiger.. they have worked brilliantly for 2 years.

In fact we brought a mac pro dual core to colour correct and finish editing

an HD video job in Final Cut Pro, The video card was knackered within 2 days

so our only solution was to use the Hackintosh we had built. It did the job brilliantly.

equally as fast on all accounts save HD rendering (which is generally an overnight job anyway).

Cost of Mac pro dual core = 120,000B

Cost of Hackintosh = 30,000B

We are in the process of building new 'Hacks' using the new OSX Lion.

We are happy to build extras if anyone is interested at 35,000B

(Standard PC Box, any fancy box will be extra)

Not sure on processor yet BUT it will be fast

32 GB RAM and 2TB hard disk (of course this can be any config you want)

reply if interested and we will do an exact Hardware spec in a few days

Admittedly probably won't buy one but I am interested in the hardware specs nonetheless. 32GB RAM for 35k baht sounds pretty good... is it that cheap now?

32GB costs 50K baht in the Apple store :P

Good luck with that, I am building my own PC and finding it very frustrating. First I picked a good motherboard with very good reviews found it advertised on several of the Thai websites but unobtainable. Then I tried both Pantip and Fortune Tower, all the shops have it listed but none have it in stock. Found the same with cpu coolers, listed but not stocked. I am saving my list until I can get them from Amazon when I next visit the UK.

If in uk look for a motherboard bundle, can save some money, ccl online, maplins, scan etc.

Recently converted an Asus X53E (aka K53E ) laptop to run Lion. Specifications are 15.6" screen i5 cpu 8gb ram 320 hdd . Cost was a little over 19,000 baht equivalent.

I found enough information to do it on the Tonymac and Insanely mac forums. It is extremely stable and has all but replaced my mac desktop. It benchmarks using geekbench very similar to similar specification macbook pro's.post-89369-0-11798500-1326735172_thumb.p

Thanks but I am looking at a specific Asus board and the better ones tend not to be included in a bundle. I always found Novatech good for bundles but for some reason their site appears to be unobtainable these days from outside the UK. However this is an interesting thread as I have never put together a Mac so I would be interested in seeing the component build.

180x20_starbooks.gif have very kindly allowed us to set up a demonstration of this new build. If you want to see it in action come up to Starbooks on Soi Khao Noi (map on their website) any time.

Interesting, would you be willing (and what kinda baht) to set-up up a dual boot win7/hack on an existing machine.

Spec of machine are,

Mobo - Asus P8H61-EVO

CPU - i5-2500k, 3.30Ghz

Ram - 8gb G-Skill DDR3 1600mhz

GPU - GTX 460

No Reply to this from Mr Plumbs and has been offline since the 9-Feb-12, did the last "hack" build fail ?

I want to make a hackintosh laptop, have you had any problems? Maybe I'll buy the same model to hack

My hackbook pro(?)

It is "HP Probook 4430s" running Lion 10.7.3.

Rock solid and stable, I can tell you that.jerk.gif

Cheers

PS: When I compare with my real macbook pro(2010), the hp hack performs equally stable if not better.
