Can My Dongle/Aircard Be Unlocked?

Featured Replies

I have a dongle[aircard].....[not sure what the correct term is for the usb thingy that has a celphone sim] and it was purchased in the philippines and locked onto thePhil network and I was wondering if it could be unlocked to be able to accept any sim card like some locked cel phones can get unlocked/open sim?? Can do?? and where would I find someone to do the job??.

In all likelihood it can be unlocked.

Can you share any details about the device? Which service provider is it locked to? What is the make/model of the device? Do you want to use this in Thailand? If so, which provider here?

Perhaps an obvious question: have you tried another SIM just to verify it is indeed locked?

Typically these are made by Huawei or ZTE, and have unique model numbers, and can be unlocked.

Frequentlyt these devices are made by Huawei, and most of them can be unlocked, but as Iomatopo siad, you need to provuide more details as to the model etc.

here's the info from their website.....http://www1.smart.com.ph/Bro/products/starter and altho it's not mentioned, it's a Huawei

You need to put the dongle in the PC and run the programme, and somewheere in the aboutbox or similar you will get the product number details. Sorry I no longer have the link for the Huawei unlocker, but it is easy to find with Google

I have the same model and it was already unlocked when I bought it.

Thanks for the link thaimite. I checked it out and it seems a bit over my dummie head, but at least I now know that it can be done and I'll take it into Pantip CM and see if a shop can do it for a small fee, of course.
