Can folks please post recent pricing for MRI's along with what hospital and where?

Lumbar spine to be specific, but a comparison of any MRI's would be insightful.

I dont know how much it costs but I always visit BNH hospital on Convent Road for my medical emergency.

14,000 Baht, two years ago at Bumrungrad.....

Quoted 9,000 baht at Bangkok hospital in Korat about a week ago.

Between 10,000 and 14,0000 in the higher end hospitals. Prices will increase if they have to use contrast solution. There are places that specialize in only MRI's, but my opinion is that the potential savings are not worth the hssle of going to two different places for the same condition.

Did they know you are not Thai? I made an appt with Bangkok Hospital at 9400 baht. When I showed up they said farang price 13,500. Why I'm still looking.

Are you sure asking for MRI-and not for CT-prices?

MRI = resonance imaging

CT = computer tomography

To explain the difference in very very simple words:

MRI - a strong magnetic field is applied

Especially used for differentiated imaging of soft tissue like inner organs

(no x-rays!)

CT - x-rays are applied (!)

Especially used for imaging of stronger tissue like bones

After recieving a spine injury from sport I was x-rayed, then underwent an MRI (which confirmed a damaged / prolapsed disk) - 14,000 B at Bumrungrad.

Last Year: I underwent a CT scan with contrast solution to diagnose a pulmonary embolism (in Singapore - Cost unknown).

MRI investigation of the spine is common.

I had one in October at BNH in BKK. It cost around 14000-15000 and it was an open style machine. They did the imaging of my lower back. I had a herniated disc between L3-L4.

Really? BNH now has an open-style MRI machine? (Not CAT scan...?) Hurray!

In August 2010, I was at BNH in agony with a ruptured disk, but my claustrophobia freaked me out so much they could not send me through their tunnel-style MRI and they had to transport my to another hospital (Urupong Medical Center) where there was an open-style MRI.

13,285 at Bumrungrad last Saturday.

15000 at Bangkok Hospital Bangkok 2 months ago MRI brain scan.
