Hi, has anyone had any experince with SAMUITEFL?

Don't mix your holiday with a TEFL. Best to do a nice holiday after you do a TEFL.

If you are not doing a CELTA the majority of Thai grown TEFL courses are equal. FYI if you have a degree getting a TEFL isn't necessary for any visa requirements. If you just want to have an introductory course on what teaching EFL might be like then ok. However a 4 week course is nothing more than an introduction it will not cover all that you will need to develop into a good teacher. It will give you an idea and a starting place to build upon.

I know nothing about this outfit or the 1000's of others out there but if their web page doesn't include the bio of their trainers, walk away. If a school cannot brag about how qualified their trainers are, it isn't worth it. Many will just hire past students to be trainers. In the past years the number of TEFL training schools has multiplied but the number of good paying TEFL jobs hasn't. Why spend more than 1 months salary on a month course if it doesn't help you get a better job?

1-2 years teaching experience doesn't make you qualified to be a teacher trainer but in Thailand it does. Very few courses have trainers that have actual degrees or training in EFL. Many have an unrelated BA a TEFL certificate and a few years experience. Make your decision carefully.

Thanks for the link to that site Loaded. You often have good information to add.

The problem with those rankings and reviews that it is usually done by graduates who have nothing to compare to. Just because someone liked a course or felt that it helped them since they are not experts in teaching as of yet, it is still unqualified.

That is also the problem with many of these threads. The people posting also have nothing to compare it to because they seldom have taken more than 1 TEFL course.
