I bought a Nissan NV about a year ago, and it had a slight misfire when I bought it. I figured the price was right, and it was probably just a plug or a lead or something, no biggy.

I took it to the Nissan dealer, three times, and three times they couldnt find the fault, telling me is was probably electrical, and that there was a mismatch between some componants. The third time I collected the car, they wanted me to settle the bill. I insisted on a test drive first, same problem, no improvement.

I have put up with it since then. I went to Australia for 5 weeks over Christmas, and when I returned the fault had got much worse. I had noticed a mechanic near Pattaya Nua on Sukhumwit, "United Pattaya Auto" they have a sign outside saying they speak English. I left it with them for a morning, and they called me saying they had pressure tested the fuel pump, and it was occasionally not hitting the right pressure.

He gave me the price for a new unit and a second hand one. I went for the new one, they finished the job in the stated time frame, and the price was as quoted. They even washed the car and detailed the inside. The car has never run so well.

Just wanted to share this info on an excellent, seemingly honest mechanic.

Yep !! it pays to shop around I have a good motorcycle mechanic when I don't want to mess with it myself.

The local "Cockpit" outlet here is great for the motor.

So the Nissan dealer can't fix electrical problems, and then they wan't to settle the bill. rolleyes.gif I hope you gave them the finger and left without paying.

Nice to hear...does he have a brother in my area ??

I took my toyota to toyota servicing obviously for all its 10k services....at 90k it had a rough run in the mornings when start up and sometimes during the day in idle.

They were told about it twice, did not fix it.

There was also a problem with rats getting into the air filter/vent somewhere and pissing in it, leaving a nice aroma through the vents for about 20 min until it went away. They wanted 2000b to fix it.....did not like the sound of that so left it.

Took the truck to korat when we were up there for an immigration run and for the first service after 100k and they fixed all the problems as part of service, no issue no extra cost....

So, this was among toyota dealerships and service centres.....just cos they are all toyota...not same same.

Rat piss is very dangerous, it spawns hantavirus, it's deadly..

Not to be taken lightly... Well worth 2000b to get it removed next time if the filter is also being replaced which is likely necessary and where they pissed as it's under the hood.

Nice to know....but that is not the point....regardless if it was rats piss or elephants piss....their explanation and subsequent excuse for the cost was complete crap when compared to the korat office actually fixing it for nicks....both problems.

Indeed I did Semper. When I returned from my test drive, they could see I was less than happy, so they opened the hood again and went through the motions of wiggling leads, tapping things and blasting jets of compressed air over the engine. In the end, I handed them the bill back, got in the car and drove away with a "stop me if you dare" attitude. Thats was the last time I have ever or will ever darken their door. They may be ok when it comes to new cars, when there is very little diagnostic work, just following servicing patterns. When it comes to actually finding out what is causing a problem on a car that is a few years old, they really don't have a clue.

Agree...thinking and analysing is not a strong point in general.

Ok and your welcome..

Second quote = TiT......Follow a procedure for maintenance and parts changing ok but actual diagnostics.....nah.....
