A Good Decongestant For Nose

Featured Replies

Cant seem to find an effective decongestant drug here in thailand over the counter, The ones availble are combined with paracetemol etc, Any ideas of a brand available. I dont mean those inhalers either

Please see thread currently running re pseudephedrine, which is the decongestant used in various cold preparations. Quite recently made prescription-only in Thailand much to the discomfort of cold sufferers.

I believe you may still be able to buy nasal drops containing pseudophedrine though so try that, otherwise only recourse is to see a doc at a hospital and get it there. Ridiculous I know.

There is a locally sold decongestant tablet called "CETTEC" that works very well for me though it does cause drowsiness. I don't know the active ingredients but it is not on the "banned" list according to my pharmacist. Very cheap, about B20/10 tabs.

Went to hospital today spend 1 hour 30 minutes for 2 minutes with a doctor for a note to get pusedoephedrine, asked her why I cant get it over the counter in Pharmacy she just smiled and said "I dont Know, ask the Government". How crazy that Antibiotics can be bought over the counter but a simple decongestant , which only side effects are drowsiness, cant be bought, Only in Thailand.

I find Otrivin to work well and I've not had any problem finding it in local pharmacies.
